Team HSC has been busy during the summer holidays so you don't have to be!

We have created a bumper set of induction resources for you, ranging from simple ice breaker activities, to a whole programme of resources on nursing.

5 fun activities to encourage your students to justify their decisions. Each one has health and social care theming.

This activity will provide students with an opportunity to explore their career aims or possibilities and delve into what skills and attributes they require to be successful in these roles.

Induction programmes

Induction Programme: The Origins and Organisation of the Healthcare Sector

6 activities that can be used as standalones, or as a structured induction programme. The activities cover:

  • how healthcare services have been organised historically
  • the establishment of the NHS
  • the development of handwashing and infection prevention and control
  • public health
  • how health and social care is currently structured and paid for in England.

Induction programme: An Introduction to Nursing

10 activities that can be used as standalones, or as a structured induction programme. The activities cover:

  • the NHS Constitution and the NHS Values
  • the skills, values and attributes required to be a nurse
  • the 6Cs of Care
  • typical service user journeys and the linked role of nursing staff
  • the four main undergraduate nursing fields of study in the UK.

Liz Blamire

Liz is the current tutor2u subject lead for Health and Social Care. She is a former NHS midwife, who has worked in community, birth centre and acute hospital settings. Liz is an SSAT Accredited Lead Practitioner, who has taught Health and Social Care in FE and secondary schools, where she was a successful HOD. Liz is an experienced senior examiner and author.
