Health & Wellbeing: Exam Revision Livestreams!

Starting on Monday 4th December, we will be running weekly revision livestreams for students. These 30 minute sessions will feature fun and fast paced revision activities for BTEC National and BTEC Tech Award exams being sat in January.

BTEC Tech Award: Component 3 Health & Wellbeing

Factors and Life Events
Thursday 7th December at 6pm

  • The positive or negative effects of factors on health and wellbeing (Questions 1-7)
  • The impact on physical, intellectual, emotional and social health and wellbeing of different types of life event (Questions 8-10)

Physiological & Lifestyle Data
Thursday 14th December at 6pm

  • Interpretation of physiological data according to published guidelines (Question 11)
  • Focused on the potential significance of abnormal readings of physiological indicators in terms of short term or long term risks (current or future) (Question 12)
  • How lifestyle choices determine physical health (Question 13)

Person-Centred Approach
Thursday 21st December at 6pm

  • Person-centred approach to improving health and wellbeing (Question 14)
  • How a person’s circumstances could affect their ability to follow recommendations for improving health (Question 15)

Recommendations & Support
Thursday 4th January at 6pm

  • Recommendations and actions that are aimed at improving health and wellbeing (Question 16a)
  • Support available when following recommendations (informal / formal) (Question 16b)

Barriers, Obstacles & Circumstances
Monday 8th January at 6pm

  • Barriers and obstacles to following recommendations (Questions 17a and 17b)
  • How a person’s circumstances could affect an area of their PIES development during a particular life stage (Question 18)

Lynne Fountain

Lynne has taught Health and Social Care in FE and secondary schools since 2014. She has successfully led a large Social Sciences department at a girl's comprehensive school in London and she is an experienced examiner and moderator. Lynne is also a teacher of Sociology, with a first degree in Sociology and an MSc in Criminology. Prior to her teaching career, Lynne held a variety of roles for the Department of Education, the charity sector, youth justice and a large children's hospital, where she used her Post Graduate Certificate in Health Service Management to manage a forensic paediatric medical service.
