Best Interests on BBC iPlayer
13th June 2023
A compelling new drama is currently being aired on the BBC - Best Interests. It is of interest to all students and teachers of Health & Social Care, although the content warnings should be considered. The series is a dramatisation of the difficult decisions that have to made around the care and treatment of vulnerable individuals with life limiting illnesses.
Best Interests can help students to understand ethical theories and principles, as applied to the situation of Marnie and her family. It also offers an insight into the care and treatment of individuals with serious and complex illness and the impact on families and health professionals. To this end, I have created six questions, suitable for BTEC National Health & Social Care and T Level Health students, linked to Episode 1, which can be downloaded below along with suggested answers. Look out for more questions as the series unfolds!
