Somerset Levels
The Somerset Levels are a low-lying area of land in Somerset, England that are prone to flooding. In 2013-2014, the area was hit by heavy rainfall and severe flooding that affected a large portion of the Levels, as well as parts of Devon and Dorset. The flooding was caused by a combination of high tide, heavy rainfall, and poor drainage in the region, which caused rivers and streams to overflow their banks. Many roads and highways were closed, and hundreds of homes and businesses were flooded. The flooding had a significant impact on the local community, and it took several months for the water to recede and for the area to fully recover.
