Climate change is a long-term shift in the average weather patterns and conditions of the Earth's climate. It's a complex issue with many causes and effects, but here's a nutshell explanation:

  • Climate change is caused by the release of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, into the atmosphere through human activities, like burning fossil fuels and deforestation.
  • These gases trap heat in the atmosphere, causing the Earth to warm up.
  • This warming is causing changes in weather patterns, such as more intense heat waves, droughts, and storms, as well as rising sea levels.
  • Climate change is a global problem that affects all countries and ecosystems.
  • The impacts of climate change are not evenly distributed, and those who are most vulnerable, such as people living in low-lying coastal areas or in regions already experiencing drought or food insecurity, are likely to be hit hardest.
  • To address climate change, we need to reduce our emissions of greenhouse gases and adapt to the impacts of climate change that are already happening.
