World's leading economies signal an end to fossil fuel use.

The leaders of the world's leading economies, the G7 heads of state, have agreed two major targets for ending the use of fossil fuels in order to limit runaway global climate change. A few days ago they announced the target of ending all fossil fuel use by the end of the century (2100), but yesterday went further and said all electricity should be generated without the use of fossil fuels by 2050. The message is that fossil fuels need to be left in the ground if the world's climate is not to be radically altered.
