Tsunami threat grows as sea levels rise

24th August 2018

Thank you to David Kilham for posting this on the Geography Teachers Facebook Group. "Tsunami hazards are increasing with sea level rise. The example here is reclaimed land in Macau, an area with multi-billion dollar gambling/leisure complexes, so perhaps useful for CUE. Also, a good chance to discuss the logarithmic magnitude scale, where a 0.3 decrease in tsunami threshold equates to earthquake shaking around half as small."
