The A-68 iceberg on the move
24th September 2017
The 6000 sq km block of ice, which broke away from Antarctica in July has finally moved away from the continental margin and is on the move.
Scientists believe that A-68 is now set to move northwards through the Southern Ocean. It is unknown though how far the iceberg will get. What is concerning is that this calving process of such a large piece of ice shelf could just be the start for the Larsen ice shelf. Scientists will be closely observing other sections to check for further changes.
