Scottish Independence?

A nice activity for tomorrow is to distribute the blank map below and ask students to fill in all the countries and to circle the United Kingdom, Britain and the British Isles.

The teacher can project the map on the board and ask the students to come up and fill in the countries. The students should come up with a map that looks roughly similar to the map below.

The teacher can now get students to spilt into teams of those pro independence and those against independence. Students can debate whether its better to stay together or for Scotland to become an independent nation.

The potential impact on the The Union Jack flag can also be discussed.
