Oceans evidencing climate change
19th January 2019
Whilst Scientists usually measure changing air temperature to evidence climate change, the oceans provide more accurate data and the last five years have provided data that shows that they are the five hottest years on record.
Oceans absorb more than 90% of the heat produced by greenhouse gases. The consequences of a warming ocean include thermal expansion which increases sea level rise, as well as an increased likelihood of tropical storms and a much wider distribution of them too.
