India's e-waste issue
14th July 2018
The increasing use of electronic gadgets across the world creates an issue when it comes to waste disposal. The richer countries don't consider where their waste phones, computers and their other technology ends up; yet its cities like Moradabad in India that face dire environmental impacts of this waste.
The burning of the e-waste to reduce the waste pile and access internal components as well as using acid to break down components is hazardous to the environment and to people's health. Toxic air pollution and soil contamination is a problem, alongside the respiratory diseases that it leads to for people working with the waste and blindness for some due to the use of acids in the process.
