Important Advice from AQA on Changing Places

Liz Hunt has posted onto the Facebook group some important clarification from AQA for those teaching Changing Places - details below.

For those teaching changing places who haven't seen my post on the gcse group already. I had a long chat with the geography team at AQA yesterday regarding the definition of 'local' for the changing places case study

The closest we could get to a definition was really the 'catchment area' of the school... and walking distance from it so if your school is in a town or city you can use the 'place' you actually live in but not at a whole city scale.

I asked for specific clarification over our example, my school is in Cheltenham so they said we couldn't use Gloucester (only 10 miles away) because the pupils don't live and go to school there. I think some of you may need to check that your case qualifies.... The lady was very clear that if they feel the centre isn't following those rules the responses won't be credited (although I have no idea how they can check!).

This will be more of an issue for those of you in Rural schools because you must use your village/small town not the nearest big town or city. I also know many people have been told that using field centre local examples is fine but this isn't what she implied yesterday.
