Free Teaching Resource - Geography Wordplay!
25th August 2016
Wordplay is primarily a bellwork/ starter/ plenary activity that can also contribute to the embedding of literacy and numeracy within lessons.
The idea is so simple!
Students are shown the wordplay board and all they need to do is generate words that relate to perhaps the lesson objectives, topic or concept that has just been studied.
It can also be used to recap topics that may have been taught several months before making it a perfect activity when teaching the new linear specifications.
There are many different applications, for example, students could be asked to generate as many words as possible from specific topics or perhaps find the highest scoring word relating to a particular Geography topic (each letter has a specific numerical value).
The activity is IWB friendly allowing students to come up and enter the words they have generated whilst a timer adds a bit of extra challenge.
