Covid’s impact on CO2
23rd November 2020
Whilst Covid has affected the amount of CO2 emissions released globally, the long term impact is limited, as scientists warn that climate change is still an issue and only marginal impacts have been measured during lockdown.
Due to lockdown at the start of the year, carbon emissions reduced by 17% during this time period. Whilst this decrease is welcomed by the scientific community, this is only a short term gain and emissions are still rising globally. CO2 emissions have continued to rise despite the respite at the start of the year.
