Climate change affecting US national parks
27th September 2018
Scientists have warned that the effects of climate change, specifically on these areas will have devastating effects. There is evidence of the natIonal parks warming at a rate much higher than the national average for the USA.
These parkland areas are located mostly in arctic areas, mountains and the south west which is very dry. Sites typical in these areas, such as the famous Joshua tree will likely not survive if the parks warm up at the expected minimum rate of 3 degrees Celsius; let alone the worst case scenario rise of 9 degrees. Rainfall levels are also likely to drop significantly.
