9th March 2020
The Jingye group have previously stated that they will save over 3000 jobs in Teeside and Scunthorpe as part of the takeover; although there are still some concerns for jobs before the deal goes through.
The group are looking to modernise the UK steel industry and to invest £1.2 billion to improve the plants and the machinery used. Whilst the company have said that they envisage a future for the industry in the UK, union officials are still concerned - for at least 500 jobs are still potentially at risk.
