Child labour and low pay being tackled in Malawi

Human rights lawyers are bringing a case against British American Tobacco in a fight against the low pay being given to more than 350 children and their families.

It is anticipated that the actual number of cases could reach 15,000. BAT says however that it does not encourage the children to work on the farm, but the poor farmers have said that they don’t have a choice if they are going to make a profit from their plots; as their wages are so low.
