Californian wildfires continue to threaten communities

It is rare for wildfires to continue so far into the winter season but with California having suffered drought conditions for the last 5 out of 6 years, the fires look set to continue.
A range of complex factors are to blame for the inferno affecting many areas of southern California. Drought and an availability of very dry vegetation have provided the perfect conditions. These conditions combined with the strong Santa Ana winds mean that the fires are spreading at a rapid pace. Many communities, including Ojai and Ventura have been decimated by the wildfires.
