Australia's population set to exceed 25 million

This landmark moment is sparking plenty of debate about the benefits and costs of population growth for a high-income country but where the vast majority of the resident population live in a cluster of urban areas including Sydney and Melbourne. According to Bloomberg, Australia’s population is growing at the fastest pace of any major developed country. It adds one person per minute. Can Australia's urban infrastructure cope? The 25 million mark has been reached many years ahead of forecast in part because of strong net inward migration.
