2023 - A Year of Extreme Weather

Most of us started back at work today - and much of that 'Christmas holiday chat' will have focused on the state of the weather over the two week break.

I live in Buxton so am no stranger to extreme weather. In the week before Christmas we had six consecutive days of 40+mph winds, with a couple of days between 50-60 mph -- this was not especially appreciated as I live on the top of a hill which is very exposed so I spent several days worrying that the roof was going to blow off! We then had several days of torrential rain (again, nothing new for Buxton) with widespread flooding across the Peak District. And after a couple of days of lovely sunshine, we are expecting the snow to arrive.

Anyway with all this chat about the state of the weather, I thought it was worth sharing these end of year weather summaries.
