Shareholder Return

Shareholder return, also known as shareholder value or return on investment (ROI), is a measure of the financial performance of a company as it relates to its shareholders.

Shareholder return is calculated as the total return to shareholders over a given period of time, which typically includes both dividends and capital gains.

Dividends are payments made by a company to its shareholders, usually on a regular basis, from its profits. Capital gains, on the other hand, are the increase in the value of a company's stock over a period of time, which can be realized when the stock is sold.
