Reforestation

Reforestation is the natural or intentional restocking of existing forests and woodlands that have been depleted, usually through deforestation but also after clearcutting. Reforestation can be used to restore forests that have been damaged or destroyed by natural disasters, such as wildfires or floods, or by human activities, such as logging or mining.

Planting new forests and restoring degraded lands increases the capacity for carbon sequestration. These projects also provide additional benefits such as biodiversity conservation, improved water quality, and enhanced ecosystem services.
