Presenteeism
Presenteeism refers to the practice of employees coming to work despite being physically or mentally unwell, experiencing personal issues, or having reduced productivity. It occurs when employees feel compelled to be present at their workplace for longer hours, even if they are not functioning at their optimal level.
Presenteeism can be driven by various factors such as job insecurity, a competitive work culture, or the fear of being penalized for taking time off. It can also result from a strong sense of responsibility or the belief that being physically present demonstrates dedication and commitment to the job.
