Economic nationalism
Economic nationalism is the belief that a country should prioritize the interests of its own economy and industries over those of other countries. In practice, this can involve policies such as protectionism, where a country imposes tariffs or other barriers to imports to protect its domestic industries from foreign competition. It can also include subsidies and other forms of government support for domestic industries, with the goal of making them more competitive globally.
Economic nationalism is often associated with populist and protectionist political movements, and it has been a controversial issue in recent years, with some arguing that it can lead to trade wars and damage global economic growth. Others argue that it is necessary to protect domestic industries and jobs.
