Age dependency ratio
The (age) dependency ratio is the ratio of dependents (people younger than 16 or older than 65) to the working-age population.
The age dependency ratio is a measure of the number of dependents (people who are not in the labour force, such as children and the elderly) relative to the number of people in the labour force (those who are working or looking for work). It is calculated by dividing the number of dependents by the number of people in the labour force and multiplying by 100. The age dependency ratio is often used to assess the burden on the working-age population to support the needs of dependents
