Deficit
A deficit describes a situation where outflows are greater than inflows. You will come across plenty of examples of deficits in your study of economics. For example, a budget deficit is when government spending is greater than tax revenues in a given year. A trade deficit happens when the value of spending on imports is greater than revenues from exports.
