Conditional cash transfer
A conditional cash transfer (CCT) is a social welfare programme that provides cash payments to low-income or vulnerable households, typically on a regular basis, in exchange for the recipients meeting certain conditions, such as sending their children to school or seeking medical care. CCT programs are designed to reduce extreme poverty and improve the well-being of disadvantaged households by providing a source of income and encouraging the adoption of positive behaviours that can lead to long-term benefits, such as improved health and education outcomes. CCT programs are used in many countries around the world and have been shown to be effective in reducing poverty and improving the lives of disadvantaged households. They are typically funded by governments or international organisations and are implemented through partnerships with local organisations.
