Abhijit Banerjee
Abhijit Banerjee is an Indian-American economist and professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is best known for his work on development economics, poverty reduction, and economic policy. In 2019, Banerjee was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics, along with Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer, for their experimental approach to alleviating global poverty.
Banerjee's research has focused on the use of randomized controlled trials to test the effectiveness of various development programmes and policies. He has conducted numerous field experiments in developing countries around the world, and has used the results of these experiments to inform the design of effective poverty reduction programs.
