World food price watch

The BBC website has tracked the food prices in seven major cities by looking at the price of a basket of goods since July 2008. Here is the interactive map. I have also written some GCSE style questions to go with it.

State which country has seen the biggest increase in the price of bread. (1 mark)

State which country has seen the biggest increase in the price of eggs. (1 mark)

Using a supply and demand diagram, explain how the religious celebration of Eid affects the price and quantity sold of meat and chicken in Jakarta. (4 marks)

Using a supply and demand diagram, explain how political violence has affected the price and quantity sold of food in Nairobi. (4 marks)
