Will shifting our reliance on petrol cars to electric ones solve all our problems?

Apparently not! To manufacture electric cars, “rare earth minerals” are required and currently 95% of the world´s supply are found in….China!

So by reducing our dependence on the finite resource oil with its climate changing effects and volatile price, we are looking to increase our reliance on another finite resource, rare earth minerals and according to this article “demand for these materials may soon exceed supply. Will this be China’s next great economic advantage?” Are electric cars the solution or are we just exchanging dependence on one commodity and the nations that produce it with another commodity and China?
