Why 1.5 million Britons are still hunting for a job

12th February 2025
This Guardian piece looks at the current state of play in the labour market through the eyes of some relatively experienced, and skilled, jobseekers. The consensus is that the jobs market is particularly competitive at the moment, and that it's difficult to get a job for a variety of reasons, not least the increased use of AI in some creative roles. As a result, a number of skilled workers are currently under-employed in the sense that they're working in roles that don't make full use of their skillset and that's indicative of inefficiency in the market.
