Wearable tech - the new 'merit good'?

We've all got our favourite example of a merit or demerit good but perhaps a new one has emerged for students to use in their examination responses. A new report out, highlighted in this article from The Guardian, suggests that an increase in attendance and membership of gyms can be attributed, in part, to the increased availability of wearable tech such as the devices in this image. The research shows that spending on gym membership has increased by 44% in the UK.
