US withdraws from the Paris climate accord

2nd June 2017
The global response to President Trump's announcement that he is withdrawing the United States from the landmark 2015 Paris climate accord on climate change has been predictably strong. The reality is that the progress curve is so strong towards a lower-carbon, renewable future that the posturing of a ignorant President is likely to be by-passed by an acceleration in collaboration between nations. Take one example (there are many I could choose) - the Governor of California heads to China next week to discuss linking their carbon trading markets. The world will leave Trump behind and the decision will only hasten the changing centre of gravity in global economics and international relations.
