The US debt problem - some fantastic resources.
28th July 2011
These four resources are guaranteed to spark a bit of interest in the issues relating to the US debt. They combine all of my favourite teaching methods - the use of props, music, and graphics.
Straight from the excellent Carpe Diem blog, the first link is a graphic which puts the amount of money into perspective from a $100 bill right up to the $114.5 trillion dollars of liabilities that the US government owes.
The youtube videos show a very funny music video from comedy rapper Remy about the debt ceiling and then a vizualization of the deficit using a kiddy pool.
The other video shows a mocking public service announcement. All cracking stuff!
