It looks like sporting events could provide the stimulus to drive the UK out of recession. The UK have a ‘golden decade’ of sport coming up after securing the Rugby World Cup this week. This article could be a good way of explaining the multiplier effect to your pupils. Rugby chiefs claim the World Cup will make the UK £2 billion due to spending in High Street stores, pubs and work to improve the local infrastructure. All of this will have a knock on effect on the economy increasing demand and growth.
