The impact of structural unemployment

Students are likely to have heard of Michael Moore's most recent documentaries such as Where to Invade Next and Capitalism: A Love Story, but it's worth delving back into the archives to revisit Roger and Me, the documentary that really launched his career, which explores the story surrounding the closure of several General Motors plants in the US in the late 1980s. One clips really stands out for me, and shows the impact of large-scale structural unemployment on the town of Flint:
