Exciting A level Opportunity to teach in Shanghai’s top Sixth Form Academy
A message this morning from Iain Wyder at Shanghai Normal University, providing details of teaching opportunities that might be of interest to colleagues. Iain writes:
Increasing student enrolment in economics at Shanghai’s CIC@SNU has resulted in vacancies for 2 qualified AS/A2 Economics teachers for our Autumn term starting September 1st. The school’s impressive placements at Oxbridge and other leading UK and North American universities has brought the school a deserved reputation among Chinese parents seeking an overseas higher education for their children. Entry is highly competitive with less than 10% qualifying for places. As a consequence students are highly motivated to succeed which makes teaching a real pleasure.
Our compensation package is competitive and meets UK salary criteria. The monthly starting salary scale for qualified teachers begins at 20,000 RMB (tax free) 1.00 GBP = 9.85025 CNY. For single teachers we pay a monthly housing allowance of 3,000 RMB and 4,500 if a spouse accompanies the teacher. In addition the school pays a 5,000 RMB overseas relocation allowance (7,000 RMB for a married couple) and an annual 8,000 RMB flight reimbursement (16,000 for a married couple) Other benefits include medical insurance for the teacher and spouse and retention bonuses. Initial contracts are for two years.
Teachers interested in exploring this superb opportunity should contact the school’s Director, Trevor Nunn email Trevor.Nunn@cic-edu.cn He will be delighted to respond to you. If you want a teacher’s viewpoint, including living and working in Shanghai I will be pleased to advise. Email me using: wyder@pilgrimsestate.com
