Searching for Turning Points: Online recruitment

Part of our series of blogs focusing on turning points in the economic cycle. The Economist recently published a chart which measures the strength of companies’ hiring intentions by counting online advertisements. Recruitment levels are still significantly down on a year ago but there are signs that employment intentions are starting to edge higher - perhaps a lead indicator of a change in mood among employers that they will need extra workers if and when the upturn gathers momentum.
