More bad news from the high street - this time for curry lovers. Curry restaurants are being hit by a double whammy of rising rice costs and a shortage of suitable workers.

Major rice producers such as India and China are reducing exports of the grain to keep prices low in their own countries. In addition, many of Britain’s curry houses recruit their staff directly from Bangladesh and the Immigration Advisory Service has urged the Home Office to offer special dispensations to allow more of these migrant workers into the country.

All in all, a recipe for customers to get hot under the collar about!
