Remember the date

Geoff Riley

8th October 2008

Remember the date - the 8th October 2008 - a day when the UK government part nationalised the entire British banking system. A quite incredible landmark in the economic history of our country. I remarked in a previous blog this week that RBS was in serious trouble. Watch our for HSBC - barely mentioned today. They will have an important part to play in being a white knight to banks on the brink of collapse - presumably Brown and Darling are relying on HSBC to come to the rescue at some point in the next few weeks.
