PISA rankings for 2015 are published

7th December 2016

There has been a huge amount of interest and comment in the newly-released PISA education rankings from the OECD. The PISA ranking draws on an assessment made every three years of the skills and knowledge of 15 year old students in science, mathematics, reading, problem solving and financial literacy. Over half a million students are tested across 72 countries. Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan were on the medal rostrum - but how well did the UK fare?

The answer is that the UK is ranked 15th out of 72 for performance in science, reading and mathematics overall ahead of Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Our Science ranking also climbed from 21st place in 2012 to 15th in the 2015 results.

You will find more statistics at Statista

Science:

  • Wales ranked 32nd equal with Russia
