This video clip is well worth a look - mining has a role to play in development but only if it is properly managed.
This is an important clip - much more important than you might think.
For resource rich countries, mining policy is central to their developmental prospects: it's about ensuring that the sector is both sustainable and genuinely contributing to the economy - most notably in the form of tax revenues - rather than encouraging rent seeking behaviours.
