Lesson 1 Activity - The World of Economics

Looking for a 15 - 20 minute activity to start your first lesson with new AS level students over the next week or so? We've got a nice introductory quiz for you!

No doubt you're getting your lesson ready - what is the economic problem? What is scarcity? What is opportunity cost? What are the factors of production? This resource gives you a short activity to introduce economics and find out what your students already know.

The PowerPoint slideshow contains a photo-montage of 10 current images. Each image has a question, e.g.who is this person? There is a 3 minute timer on the slide to give your students (possibly in small teams) to go through the 10 questions and write down their answers. On completion, you then click through each image individually to reveal the answer. With each answer there is then a supplementary question to stimulate discussion about a whole host of topics relating to economics - a real chance to introduce the subject.
