Is China leading the electric vehicle race?

This BBC news clip looks at competition in the electric car market, with China leading the way, arguably because of high levels of government support. This clip looks at the concerns of the US and the EU, and the prospect for protectionist barriers being erected in the sector.
Some suggest that high levels of state support was necessary to kickstart the sector, not least in ensuring that it has the necessary electric car infrastructure to survive. Critics suggest that state support has given them an unfair competitive advantage.
