Iron ore prices and the shutdown point

Geoff Riley's recent post on the impact of falling iron ore prices on the Australian economy detailed some of the macroeconomic effects (falling GDP and exchange rate, rising unemployment) and now we have an excellent example of a microeconomic concept in action - the shutdown point.
