How coronavirus almost brought down the global financial system
14th April 2020
Here is an excellent, detailed and rather worrying Guardian long read about the impact of coronavirus on the global financial system.
It looks at the impact of the virus on markets, with a number of asides, notably trader anger at having to adapt to slower wifi speeds, and the full extent of government intervention.
The worrying thing is that the article concludes by suggesting that, to a large extent, the degree to which we recover is going to be determined by whether or not banks 'play nicely'. That's not something that I'm overly optimistic about.
