Great starter video on the “man-cession” and subsequent “he-covery”

This short video from ABC’s Diane Sawyer is a fantastic lesson starter which deals with male vs female unemployment rates in the USA due to the recession and some surprising reasons why the vast majority of jobs added since the economy has started to recover have gone to males.
The youtube clip can be found here. Well worth a discussion on whether this trend is likely to continue and what long-term effects it might have. Are other countries likely to have similar trends or is this particular to the USA?
The graphic below shows very clearly that men were hit a lot harder than women (hence the “mancession”) but also that their employment has picked up a lot faster as well.
