Government Failure - Trains in Spain
22nd February 2023
One for your government failure revision notes! Spain’s secretary of state for transport and the head of the state rail company have stepped down due to growing public and political backlash over new trains that are too wide for some tunnels.
The Euro 258 million project involved spending money on thirty new commuter trains - the aim being to modernize the fleet and increase passenger capacity. But the design fault means that the new trains will not be delivered into service until 2026!
Hopefully everything will be back on track by then!
