Fun Fact Friday! Economists and what they’ve said

Ruth Tarrant

13th February 2011

This ‘match the quotes’ exercise asks students to match some economics quotations with the economist to which they belong. To extend the activity, students could give an explanation of what they think the selected quotation means, or find out more about each of the economists mentioned in terms of their core beliefs and major works, and/or they could find one more quotation for each economist that provides a good reflection of their perspective on economics. It’s always useful to refer to well-known pieces of economics literature in essays and other exam questions, and this short research activity gives students a chance to widen this source of literature.
