Farewell to Declan - Business at Breakfast will never be the same again

After eight years of presenting the breaking business news early in the morning, Declan Curry is moving on…

We’ve had a couple of teacher conferences at the stunning London Stock Exchange Media Centre in the last year or two, and it has been great to see Declan Curry in action.

For those of us who like to catch up with the essential business stories first thing in the morning, Declan’s work from the Stock Exchange, and from his many sorties out into the real business world, have been a godsend. Breaking stories of significance have been treated seriously (take note Five Live); complex stories have been explained clearly and concisely. Many of the interviews with CEOs and their like have been superb. There are some nice clips from the more light-hearted output here.

BBC breakfast’s loss is, of course, Working Lunch’s gain. The BBC’s business output provides such a rich seam of resources and insights for our students. It looks like it will be Working Lunch that now becomes the must-watch programme in the tutor2u office. There is such a great opportunity for Working Lunch to engage more effectively with teachers and students alike and it will be interesting to see how Declan and the production team exploit this and other opportunities in the coming months.
